When booking your next trip, should you choose a serviced apartment or a hotel room?
Here are some of the common differences between the two to help you make your decision.
Serviced apartments
Serviced apartments usually have
(i) a fully equipped kitchen and laundry (washing machine and dryer)
(ii) a proper hair dryer, iron and ironing board in every apartment
(iii) lounge room and one, two bedrooms or more
(iv) convenient for families with children
(v) convenient for groups of friends
(vi) convenient for those with food allergies (as meals are able to be prepared in the apartment)
(vii) daily or weekly housekeeping services
If your stay is longer period, a service apartment typically costs less than a hotel room, with more space, privacy.
Hotels
By comparison, hotels usually have
(i) single rooms with an en-suite bathroom, mini bar, a desk and possibly an area with an occasional chair.
(ii) a restaurant or designated eating area serving breakfast daily, and dinner most evenings.
(iii) room service, business facilities, concierge and even facilities such as a swimming pool and gymnasium.
Choose accommodation to suit your requirements
Generally speaking,
- if you are looking for a home away from home and are happy to cook for yourself, a serviced apartment is a good choice.
- if you are looking for the convenience of access to a variety of services and facilities, then a hotel will be more appropriate.
