Some of the great malls are located
well outside of Kuala Lumpur, perhaps still very much worth a visit to some,
for others probably not worth the hassle.
1. Pavilion KL
Pavilion is one of the grandest
shopping mall in Malaysia with modern design. It is very popular among the locals and tourists. Pavilion
has over 500 stores offering the best in local and international retail
mix, for all ages and price ranges.
Pavilion has a great food court (Food
Republic) and many great restaurants and coffee shops. Food Republic overturns old perceptions of food court dining
to fresh outlooks at new heights with new hopes and ideals. It dishes out the
best of hawker and restaurant fare under a single platform at affordable prices
with good customer service.

Suria KLCC
Suria
KLCC is located at the foot of the Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur’s proud
landmark. It showcases a mixture of high-end and mid-range designer labels. Suria
KLCC has been one of the most popular tourist malls for ages. Locals always
call it a tourist mall, but still many tens of thousands come to this mall
every weekend to relax and hang out. Tourists may find many shops offer
different products that at other malls, Suria KLCC has many shops that sell
familiar international brands.
3. One
Utama
Though pretty far away from Kuala
Lumpur City Center, One Utama is a not to be missed shopping mall. It is rated
the world’s 4th largest mall by CNN. It has 6 retail floors with
a total area of 5 million square feet. There are over 600 shops that sell all
kind of goods that you can look and browse through. There
is also a huge Food Republic food court provides local and international cuisines.
One Utama is not really popular among tourists because of the distance from
most of the tourist hotels; still it is very much worth a visit.
4. Mid
Valley Megamall and The Gardens
Mid
Valley Megamall is very popular among the locals. This
is the first mall that is not located within the city center of Kuala Lumpur
but is accessible through KTM train. It has
more than 400 middle-range stores. Its frequent hosting of fashion shows and
events with local and international models on the runway gives this mall a
glamorous touch to it. Mid Valley
is connected to The Gardens, a luxurious mall (and also one of the prettiest)
with many exclusive brands.
5. Sunway
Pyramid
Sunway Pyramid is popular among locals
that live outside Kuala Lumpur, ie., Selangor. Sunway is more than a shopping
mall; it is a huge entertainment complex with numerous bars, restaurants,
hundreds of shops, hotels, resorts and even a huge amusement park (and water
park). Those that travel with children will probably do them a huge favor by
visiting Sunway Pyramid.
6. Berjaya
Times Square
Berjaya Times Square is one of the biggest shopping mall in Malaysia. It
has over 600 stores where most stores offer goods at cheap and affordable prices.
This mall is an ideal destination for the budget shopper. There is a small indoor theme
park with a roller coaster which makes it the perfect mall to visit if you are
traveling with children. Berjaya Times Square is located at Bukit Bintang area;
a 10 minutes’ walk from Sungei Wang Plaza, Lowyat Plaza or Lot10.
7. Plaza
Lowyat
Not all tourists will like Plaza Lowyat
as it is small, crowded and often very noisy but it is definitely a famous IT
mall for locals. Stores are selling numerious IT products, gadgets and
electronic accessories such as cameras, phones, laptops, tablets and etc.
8. Lot 10
Lot 10 has quite a few nice shops and
also a National Geographer Flagship Store. Its food court @ Hu Tong is located
at the basement, mainly Chinese hawkers. Lot 10 lies conveniently between other
popular malls in Bukit Bintang such as Sungei Wang Plaza and Pavillion.
9. Sungei Wang and BB Plaza
Sungei
Wang Plaza is one of the oldest malls in Kuala Lumpur, yet, it still remains a
favourite especially among the young locals due to its affordable-priced fashion
products. It is strategically located in Bukit Bintang (opposite
of Lot 10). Besides fashion stores, Sungei Wang
Plaza houses hair salons, massage parlours and tailors. The restaurants mainly
serve Chinese food some famous fast food
chains such as KFC and McDonalds.

The Curve
The Curve is neither the biggest nor
the most popular mall in Kuala Lumpur. It is also located pretty far out of the
city center but just 5 minutes’ drive from One Utama. There are many western
style bars and restaurants.
11. Avenue K
Avenue K is a modern but small shopping
mall located opposite of Suria KLCC. It has been increasingly popular with its
modern food court, Taste Enclave, which stretches over 17,500 s. feet and can
seat up to 550 diners, with a total of 16 stalls and 4 mini restaurants. Taste
Enclave offers a wide range of local and
international foods.
