Bangkok ~ Pattaya Attractions Part 1: Night Life and Beaches

Pattaya city is a popular weekend getaway for locals and tourists. It is located at the Eastern Gulf Coast of Thailand and it is about 150km away from southeast of Bangkok. The travel time is around 2 hours from Bangkok.

Pattaya’s main attraction is its red-light district areas (i.e. go-go bars and beer bars). Its beaches may not be the main reason for tourists to visit this city as the beaches are not as clean as other cities'. Nevertheless, there are some sightseeing places that are worth to explore.

Let's explore......

Part 1: Pattaya Night Life and Beaches

Night life:

       1) Walking Street (South Pattaya)
       2) Soi 7, Soi 8

Beaches:

       1) Jomtien Beach
       2) Pattaya Beach

Night life:

1) Walking Street (South Pattaya)

Walking Street is the centre of red-light district in Pattaya with all kinds of bars and discos along the road. There is also a wide variety of seafood restaurants and international foods.

Location: along Pattaya Beach Road

2) Soi 7, Soi 8 (South Pattaya)

A 2nd choice for night-life after Walking Street.

Location: from Pattaya 2nd Road down to Beach Road

Beaches:

1) Jomtien Beach (South Pattaya)

Jomtien Beach is the most famous and longest beach at Pattaya with 5km long from start to end point so there is more than enough to cater visitors.

It becomes popular because it is more peaceful and less noisy than other beaches such as Pattaya Beach. At Jomtien Beach, you could easily find a more serene and not-so-crowded resort.

Besides, if you drive to Jomtien Beach and you will easily find a parking space compared to Pattaya Beach which does not have such parking facilities.

How to get there:
Look for Jomtien-bound Songthaews or shared taxi at the 2nd Road nearby Walking Street
(cost around THB10-20 one way) – will arrive within 10-20 minutes.

2) Pattaya Beach (South Pattaya)

Jomtien Beach is a 4km long beach in the city center. It is not the cleanest place and it is very busy.

On the beach road, there are many hotels, shopping malls and market stalls, a huge variety of restaurants, many sports activities and bars and discos.
